Check Real change happens when women lead. History supports this.
Women are 52% of Alabama’s population and 100% essential to the future prosperity of our state, but far underrepresented in seats of power.
Those days are numbered.
To catalyze the mounting dialogue and public outcry for a powerful, unified voice for women in the state of Alabama, the Women’s Foundation of Alabama has built our own Women’s Policy Institute (WPI), an equity-centered, intersectional, women-led strategic think tank. The WPI builds power for women by:
- Elevating women’s civic engagement
- Facilitating grassroots movement-building
- Growing capacity and number of leaders
- Connecting networks of women across Alabama
This durable and permanent advocacy operation bridges the gap between the legislative process and Alabama’s diverse communities. The WPI connects women across the state with key stakeholders and with each other. More critical to the mission, the WPI invests through its WPI Fellowship program critical resources to support multi-issue movement-building and fellow-led initiatives. Participants learn advocacy skills that help them convert passion to action.
The WPI fellowship curriculum is designed to train passionate women and community leaders in public policy advocacy by sharing the tools and best practices we have developed over the course of our growth. We’re looking for independent thinkers from a breadth of backgrounds and experiences. The Fellowship is open to anyone who wants to be a leader on the path to systems change for women in Alabama.
