Women’s Foundation of Alabama Appoints Margaret L. Ritchie as Vice President of Development

ALABAMA — [TUESDAY, APRIL 28, 2026] The Women’s Foundation of Alabama has named Margaret L. Ritchie, MPA, as its new Vice President of Development. Ritchie joins the organization during its pivotal 30th anniversary year, bringing extensive nonprofit leadership and fundraising experience to a moment of significant growth and statewide momentum.

Most recently, Ritchie served as Vice President of Development for McWane Science Center, where her leadership helped reinvigorate the organization’s individual giving program. Her career also includes development roles with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Girl Scouts of North Central Alabama, and the Vestavia Hills City Schools Foundation, where she sharpened her approach to philanthropic strategy, donor engagement, and mission-driven work across Alabama’s nonprofit sector.

A respected leader in her field, Ritchie has served on the boards of M-Power Ministries and Pathways and as President of the Alabama Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Throughout her career, she has built a reputation for cultivating meaningful relationships, strengthening development operations, and helping organizations grow the resources needed to expand their impact.

“Margaret brings deep development expertise, strong relationships, and a clear commitment to mission-driven leadership,” said Kimberly L. Jackson, President and CEO of the Women’s Foundation of Alabama. “As we celebrate 30 years and continue building, her experience and strategic approach to fundraising will be instrumental in advancing our work on behalf of women and families across Alabama.”

Ritchie holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and marks 30 years in the nonprofit sector this year.

Celebrating 30 years, Women’s Foundation of Alabama is a community-driven foundation impacting the world around us by accelerating economic opportunity for women. We envision a society where power and possibility are not limited by gender, race, or place. Founded as a regional women’s fund in 1996, Women’s Foundation of Alabama is the state’s only public women’s foundation applying a gender lens to grantmaking, research, and advocacy.
