Women’s Foundation of Alabama Awards $500,000 to Fall 2025 Grant Recipients Advancing Women’s Economic Opportunity

ALABAMA – [Wednesday, January 28, 2026] The Women’s Foundation of Alabama today announced the recipients of its Fall 2025 Grant Cycle, awarding a total of $500,000 to nonprofit organizations advancing women’s economic opportunity across the state. Through this cycle, the Foundation awarded ten grants of $50,000 each to high-impact, community-based organizations whose work addresses the complex and interconnected barriers women face when entering and remaining in the workforce.

“These grantees represent bold, community-driven solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing women today. While we initially planned to award nine grants this cycle, the strength of the proposals and the urgency of the need led us to expand our investment to support ten organizations. We are proud to invest $500,000 in building the infrastructure needed for long-term economic opportunity for Alabama’s women and families,” said Zhaundra C. Jones,  Vice President of Philanthropy and Learning of the Women’s Foundation of Alabama.

Collectively, programs supported through this grant cycle are projected to help more than 700 women across Alabama move into the workforce or onto a path toward economic mobility, including:

Providing transportation, coaching, job skills training, and/or credentialing to help 285 women secure quality jobs or increase their wages.

Supporting 50 women in transitioning from public housing to market-rate housing or in purchasing homes.

Helping 100 women build at least $600 in household savings and improve their credit scores by an average of 30 points.

Enabling 255 women healthcare professionals to access leadership development and continuing education to address gender and racial wage gaps and retain more professionals, including midwives, in Alabama.

Assisting 20 women entrepreneurs in launching businesses, accessing capital, and creating jobs.

This year’s grantmaking reflects a strategic shift toward deeper investments and sharper alignment with the Foundation’s long-term holistic approach to advancing women’s economic opportunity: 1) Women + Work 2) Women + Leadership, and 3) Women + Wellbeing – Financial Wellbeing.

Together, these investments strengthen pathways to employment, leadership advancement, and long-term financial stability for women throughout Alabama.
