The Brilliant Black Girl Collective, a Fund of Women’s Foundation of Alabama, is a philanthropic community that invests annually in the educational pursuits of brilliant young girls graduating from Birmingham City High Schools.
We fully understand for a young girl to become strong, successful, and self-reliant she must have access to resources. She must be able to leverage the power of social capital. She must be assured and affirmed by a village of supporters.
In May 2021, Founding Members – who either were born in Birmingham, live in Birmingham, or care about Birmingham – pooled personal financial resources to create pathways for deserving young girls in Birmingham City High Schools, believing they deserve a chance to be assured and affirmed with the financial backing and seasoned guidance and expertise. Since 2023, The Brilliant Black Girl Collective has awarded $97,000 in scholarships.
The Brilliant Black Girl Collective graciously accepts contributions of any size to support the annual distribution of scholarships to support the educational pursuits of young girls graduating from Birmingham City Schools who are planning to pursue post-secondary education.
Scholarships will be annually awarded to seniors pursuing post-secondary education to accredited two-year or four-year institutions; awards can range from $1,000-$7,500. Currently, this is a one-time scholarship for seniors.
