With the legislature scheduled to come in to session this morning, we wanted to share a super quick update about what you can expect.

Watch our one-minute video for all the details and read on for highlights.

2020 Legislative Session
Senator Del Marsh and Speaker Mac McCutcheon will be at the State House today only to adjourn both chambers for one more week.

On Monday, May 4, both the House and Senate will reconvene to pass the Education and General Fund budgets. We expect funding to be level from last year.

Additionally, the legislature will take up any local legislation next week before they are constitutionally required to adjourn on May 18.

Health Care
Last week, with our Cover Alabama partners, we asked you to join us in calling on our state leaders to expand Medicaid.

For those of you who showed your support through social media posts, emails, and calls—thank you!

Your participation helped generate significant attention and awareness. At one point on Tuesday, #CoverAlabama was a trending hashtag on Twitter in Alabama.

Stay tuned for more updates from us when the legislature reconvenes.
